Welcome to our students & families for the 2021 school year
Last week we welcomed our new Y7 students to Fairhills for the start of the 2021 school year.
The students and parents (day 1) participated in a 3 day Induction Program which included guest speakers from Knox Police (Students & Social Media), Bully Zero, Communities That Care (Coping with Stress) and parent Debra McCabe (Raising a teenager and transitioning to secondary school). The program also included a Family Yoga & Mindfulness session, creating Time Capsules, a Team Building session making marshmallow & spaghetti towers, a Wellbeing session and practical sessions on lockers/locks, timetables and the laptop roll out.
This unique and exciting Induction Program is the only program of its kind in the outer Eastern Region is offered to our 2021 Y7 students and parents. The program aims to provide parents and students with a greater understanding of secondary schooling, and not only aims to address the educational aspects but also issues around the social and emotional developments that you may face both at school and at home. We, at Fairhills High School, recognise that for many parents this may be their first child to attend secondary school, so we have aimed to make the transition as smooth as possible.
We would like to thank Deb Cocks and 'Communities that Care' for providing lunch on Day 1 of the program.
